Since the days of slavery, dogs were used to violently chase down escaped men and women who were running for their lives. As Black Americans fought for civil rights, k9 units were used to terrify people protesting or simply walking to school. Today, police dogs have been used during Black Lives Matter (BLM) protests to capture and hold people suspected of committing crimes.
